A near trip to Kansas and a Blurr in our tent

Last night was quite a blow! About two o'clock the wind picked up to such a pitch it was rocking the trailer. Realizing our awning was out like a mast, we quickly and blindly, I might add, ran out into the night to put it away. Success and none worse for wear! Praise God! In fact it was quite invigorating! Of course I couldn't get back to sleep for hours. How true of the Christian faith. Sometimes God wakes us out of our slumber with something that seems frightful and yet invigorating; something that reminds you that you are alive. It would seem that the times that we are in are doing that very thing. It bids us, "Rise up oh man of God".
Earlier on today we set up a dinning tent. We were sitting in the dining tent, dinning, as one would do, when a humming bird flew into the tent. Lynda freaked out... a little.... After a moment or two, she wanted me to quickly grab my phone and capture nature's ADHD flying machine in a picture. Sorry, it didn't happen. As quick as he (or she) came, it was gone. Momentary blessing. Can't capture them, but you sure are glad you were present when it happened.

Tearing up downtown...

Sad to think that the downtown area might be torn up to accomdate the lite rail. It will radically change the feel not mention congest the snot out of the downtown area. To think that a 50 to a 90 meter rail will have to turn left onto Neilson from Main or vice versa is mind boggling! Who are these city planners? I think a twelve year old with SimCity could do better in figuring out public transit.

Countdown....2

Down at the market....sucking up the ambiance....

It works!

Last night we tried to do a draft and publish it when we had Internet. Worked like a charm! Now it's time to get feed back from you the public!

A youth pastor's vacation

Hi All...or mom!
I am actually keeping a blog over the course of my holidays! Excited? You may ask, "Why would you do something so counter intuitive to vacation Tim?" Well maybe not counter intuitive to our culture, but certainly counter intuitive to me. When I go on vacation, I want to hibernate. The last thing I want to do is to "stay connected".
However....
1) I need to see if this format will work to keep parents of those attending our Dominican mission's trip up to date.
2) In the past we have used a website (made by Sandbox) on my old black Mac that is so outdated it would be quite expensive to bring things over to my "newer" mac.
3) Caitlin said, "Why not use a blog?" So indeed a blog might do.
4)We need a comparable study. Who would have thought that the internet reliability at Smuggler's Cove would be comparable to the internet reliability in the DR?  WELL IT IS! I'm not bitter.
5) It will be a very random collection of thoughts (some deep and profound, I'm sure and others not so much as the ramblings of a mad man) and pics (I hope) and a not so regular basis.
6) If you don't read it, I really don't care. Honestly, I probably would not be interested in what you did  on your vacation either! Even if you did bring me back a conch shell with goggly eyes stuck to it!
I actually tried to cross my eyes for this shot.....it hurt!
Holidays actually start this Sunday. By then I should have figured out how to do this from my phone or my iPad! If you have a comment let me know (just remember...go easy....I'm on vacation!) Comment because I'll need to know if we can allow parents to leave comments while in the D.R. My fear is that it will bung up the page like a block of aged cracker barrel on an empty stomach!
